September 13, 1992

Coach: Chris Marsiglia, fifth season

1991 record: 3-7-2

Returnees: Seniors Stacey Lillis (F), Amity Bednarzik (L), Mandy Miller (D), Jill Sammons (SW), Lacie Koppelman (F), Carrie Petcovic (D), Elizabeth Stier (D), Jenny Carrigg (L), Maura Gallagher (GK), Denise Atkins (D); Juniors Angela Menegay (F), Kelly Naylor (GK).

Newcomers to watch: Juniors Xochitl Strobehn (D/L), Alicia Feldman (F), Karissa Cooke (D), Sara Adelman (D), Karen Kezmerski (D), Amy Zirkle (SW), Nina Tucker (F).

Coach's outlook: "The team has matured a lot since last year. My defense is awesome. It's going to be very hard to score on us. I still haven't figured out my offense, though. If we can get in the offensive mode and score some goals, we'll stack up real well in the county."

Howard County Sun outlook: Eight starters return from a team that wasn't far from respectability last year. Naylor, the premier goalie in the county, leads a defense that should improve on last season's five-shutout total. The offense needs a leader. Lillis, the leading scorer on the junior varsity for two years, could be the answer. And with a little offensive punch, the Scorpions could be the league's most improved team.
