Maryland falls to Duke in opener, 2-0

COLLEGE PARK -- Duke's Jennifer Lewis scored on a penalty kick at 25:36 and Bridgett Arnold scored from 12 yards out less than two minutes later to lead the Blue Devils over Maryland, 2-0, yesterday in the season opener for both schools.

Maryland goalkeeper Cailin Mullins made nine saves.

James Madison 8, Loyola 0

Michelle Wyatt scored four goals to lead Mercer (N.J.) Community College to an overtime win over Anne Arundel CC (0-1) in the first game of the season for both teams.

Kathy Green scored two goals for the Pioneers, who tied the game three times in regulation before going scoreless in overtime.
