Navy Seaman Seal reports for duty

Navy Seaman Apprentice Michael J. Seal, son of David L. and Janet S. Seal, both of Mount Airy, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation, home ported in Philadelphia.

Seaman Seal joined the Navy in September 1991.

Army Pvt. Drake finishes basic training

Army Pvt. Christine C. E. Drake, daughter of Robert E. Drake of Columbia and Jane M. Drake of Poolesville, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Private Drake is a 1990 graduate of Oakland Mills High School.

Airman McCoy completes course

Air National Guard Airman Kirsten L. McCoy, daughter of Joan Van Anken of Columbia and Herbert H. McCoy of Annapolis, has graduated from the tactical aircraft maintenance specialist course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita, Texas.

A 1981 graduate of Wilde Lake High School, Airman McCoy was taught the fundamentals of repairing and servicing aircraft with turbine engines.

Four county residents among Navy frosh

Four Howard County residents have been inducted into the Navy and are now among the more than 1,200 plebes who began classes Aug. 24.

Before classes started the plebes where taught basic skills in seamanship, sailing, close-order drill, hand-to-hand combat, and Navy customs and traditions.

County residents looking to become commissioned officers in four years are:

* Midshipman 4th Class Gregory J. Donofrio, son of Edward J. Donofrio and Judith L. Baader both of Ellicott City.

* Midshipman 4th Class Jona than J. Jackson, son of Bernard J. Jackson of Dayton and Janice C. Mackey of Columbia. Midshipman Jackson is a 1992 graduate of Glenelg High School.

* Midshipman 4th Class James P. Adams, son of Lynn V. Clarke of Sykesville.

* Midshipman 4th Class Alsandro H. Turner, son of Alsandro and Wanser Turner, of Columbia.
