Carroll Christian Patriots 1992 VOLLEYBALL OUTLOOK

September 06, 1992

Head coach: Judy Meid (fifth season).

1991 record: Not available.

Top returnees: Seniors Kellie Sullivan, Kristine Mann, Michelle Staner, Laura Roche, Amy Cartzendasner, Kim Fritz; sophomore Cheryl Beard; freshmen Rachel Holdefer, Kellie Kirk.

Top newcomers: Juniors Mary Lee Lippy, Kristin Abbott; sophomore Heather Rhyne; freshmen Karen Stout, Cathy Paul, Kelly Peterson; eighth-graders Brooke Bentz, Cathy Saylor.

Coach's outlook: "I have very high aspirations about this team. I want them to believe in themselves and get a taste of winning. Once they get a little taste, it will become contagious."

Carroll County Sun outlook: Coach Meid said the program is beginning to boom. The Patriots had a two-week summer camp in which 29 players attended, prompting a JV schedule. Meid has 17 players on varsity, and they got off to a good start with a season-opening win at Grace on Tuesday. The Patriots have a versatile group of experienced seniors and promising newcomers. Meid believes this team is ready to challenge the top teams -- Calvary, Heritage and Cumberland Valley -- in the Valley Christian Conference. If Tuesday's impressive win on the road is any indication, she may be right.
