Westminster Owls 1992 VOLLEYBALL OUTLOOK

September 06, 1992

Head coach: Karol Brown (10th season).

Assistant coach: Michelle Salafia.

1990 record: 10-5.

Top returnees: Seniors Stacy Henderson, Sherri Schmitz, Jesse Furbay, Beth Bryant, Stephanie Ballinger, Stephanie Harrell; junior Gina Hughes.

Top newcomers: Juniors Angie Nickolas, Jaime Wheat, Kristen Haga, Bridget Garner; sophomores Tara Haney, Tara Dorsey, Beth Lister.

Coach's outlook: "I think we'll have a pretty good team. We have some very hard workers. The county teams provide a lot of good competition for ourselves and this year should be very interesting."

Carroll County Sun outlook: Some are saying the Owls are the team to beat this year in the county race -- making them a favorite in the Central Maryland Conference as well. They appear to have the most experience back among the big three (Liberty, North Carroll and themselves). The Owls blew a few matches last year in which they had taken early leads. Brown is hoping another year of experience will change that. The Owls have been working on being more aggressive and consistent on serves. On paper, this team appears to be the strongest in the county. For now, they have to be considered the favorite in a close three-way race.
