N. Carroll Panthers 1992 VOLLEYBALL OUTLOOK

September 06, 1992

Head coach: Linda Richards (19th season).

Assistant coaches: Bonnie Clendaniel.

1990 record: 8-7.

Top returnees: Seniors Meghan Moore, Lisa Sauter, Jeannie Stevens, Stacey Krumrine; juniors Joy Huber, Chris Brenden.

Top newcomers: Juniors Jenny Renner, Danielle Arnold, Jill Tringali, Kristie Krebs; sophomores Katy Wilhelm, Kandi Lippy.

Coach's outlook: "I think we have a more athletic team this year. We have to work on our basics. They know last year was not a typical North Carroll year, and they've shown a strong desire to get back on top."

Carroll County Sun outlook: After dominating the Carroll volleyball scene in recent years, the Panthers dropped to 8-7 a year ago and were second in the county behind Liberty. Richards said the strong recreational soccer programs that have formed in the area have taken some of the top athletes away from volleyball. Playing the bigger Class 4A schools such as Westminster, Linganore and Frederick also caught up with the Panthers. Senior Meghan Moore and junior Joy Huber are the Panthers top hitters, and they'll look to senior Lisa Sauter to set things up. Look for a balanced county race this season, with the Panthers in the hunt along with Westminster and Liberty.
