F. Scott Key Eagles 1992 VOLLEYBALL OUTLOOK

September 06, 1992

Head coach: Leo Totten (second season).

Assistant coach: Kathy Little.

1990 record: 9-6.

Top returnees: Seniors Jenny Baker, Tina Smith, Shelly Black, Shelley Smith, Kristi Stambaugh, Damien Overholzer, Christy Boesler, Aslynn Hinkle; junior Amber Smith.

Top newcomers: Juniors Karen Brooks, Julie LeBrun.

Coach's outlook: "I'm cautiously optimistic. We have a great group of kids and everything is looking very positive. We're just going to take it one game at a time and see what happens."

Carroll County Sun outlook: With eight seniors in the lineup who have been together for four years, this could be the Eagles' year in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League. The group has improved every year together and is coming off a solid 9-6 season. Now, Totten is hoping to challenge the elite of the MVAL. The Eagles appear to have the versatility and depth to do just that. Experience alone could be worth a few wins in some tight matches. A solid start could get this team rolling. This is a definite make-or-break year for the Eagles. Winning the MVAL will be tough with Smithsburg, Williamsport and Boonsboro back strong, but the Eagles should be right there with them.
