Here's what to look for if you are traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction.

New highway projects

West Ring Factory Road, between Route 924 and Route 24, south of Bel Air -- Will be closed to traffic until February from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for reconstruction. Motorists are urged to use Bel Air South Parkway.

Cool Branch Road between Route 136 and Rolling Green Road in Churchville -- Will be closed until the middle of October while the earthen portion of Cool Branch is reconstructed. Motorists are advised to use Rolling Green Road as an alternate route.

I-95 northbound and southbound (Howard County) -- Southbound I-95 between Route 175 and just south of Route 32 will be reduced to two lanes at various times on weekends through spring 1993. The lane closures will occur between midnight Friday and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Northbound I-95 also will be reduced to two lanes, but three lanes will be open by noon on Sundays. Lanes may be split, alternate routes include U.S. 29, U.S. 1 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

Bus route changes:

The MTA has scheduled the following bus route changes for this week. For information, call 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

Labor Day

Tomorrow, buses will operate on a holiday schedule. Park-and-Ride service to Oriole Park at Camden Yards will begin operating about an hour and a half before game time. The Metro will be open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. or until one hour after the game ends. Light rail trains will operate on a regular schedule from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. or until one hour after the game. Only special MARC trains to the baseball game will run tomorrow.

The MTA warns light-rail riders to expect heavy usage tomorrow because of the baseball game and last day of the Maryland State Fair in Timonium.

Temporary route

No. 13 -- A block party Saturday will close Milton Avenue between Biddle and Chase streets from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., temporarily rerouting buses.

Eastbound via regular route south on Milton Avenue to Biddle Street, west on Biddle, south on Montford Avenue, east on Chase, south on Milton, then via regular route.

Westbound via regular route on Milton to Chase, west on Chase, north on Montford, east on Biddle, north on Milton, then via regular route.
