Jockey Alberto Delgado, seeking his third consecutive riding title at Timonium Race Course, celebrated his 28th birthday yesterday with two winners, raising his win total to nine for the first six days of the meeting.

Delgado rode Cardinal Cross ($6) to victory in the second race and Expecting Miracles ($18.20) home first in the fifth race. He had only four mounts yesterday.

Delgado leads the Timonium jockey standings by one victory over runner-up Freddy Castillo, who also was aboard two winners yesterday.

Castillo won on Sfuzzi ($13.80) in the sixth race and Oriental Baby ($7.40) in the seventh.

Trainer suspended

Owner-trainer Donald E. Souder has been suspended for 15 days, Sept. 8-22, by the Maryland Racing Commission.

The suspension was the result of a positive drug test on Polly's Chance, which won the fifth race at Laurel on Aug. 25. Polly's Chance was found to have an excessive level of phenylbutazone in its blood.

Polly's Chance is entered in the fifth race at Timonium today.
