Man found slain in car is identified

September 04, 1992

City police have identified a man found shot to death Wednesday in his car on the parking lot of a Yale Heights apartment building as a 25-year-old York, Pa., resident.

Police said a Southwestern District officer responding to the sound of gunshots about 9:30 p.m. found the body of Donovan Courtney Francis seated behind the wheel of a bullet-riddled Civic Honda parked in the 4300 block of Eldone Road.

The man's home address was not immediately available.

Police found an undisclosed quantity of narcotics in the man's pockets, leading them to believe the slaying was drug-related.

Mr. Francis was shot severaltimes, including once in the head, at close range.

One bullet hole was found in the car's door frame.

At least one other bullet shattered a window.

Police urged anyone having information about the slaying to call the homicide squad at 396-2100.
