Labor Day

September 02, 1992

Howard County students who returned to school a week before the traditional post-Labor Day start will get a jump on the holiday as all schools and board of education offices close Friday and reopen Tuesday.

All government offices and courts will be closed Monday. The post office, banks, the landfill and libraries will also be closed. Hours will resume Tuesday.

There will be no trash or recycling collections on Labor Day. Households on the once-a-week Monday trash collection schedule will have next-day pick up on Tuesday. Homes with twice-a-week service will not have next-day service. They can, however, put out a double load on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The next collection for Monday curbside recycling routes will be Sept. 19.

Additional school closings are scheduled for Rosh Hashana, Sept. 28; Yom Kippur, Oct. 7; and Election Day, Nov. 3.
