ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Western District -- Police arrested one man and were seeking at least one other in connection with the assault Sunday night of a policeman. Officer Stanley Branford was seated in his patrol car shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Laurens St. with the driver's side window down when at least two men began throwing bricks and bottles at the car. Officer Branford was struck on the right hand and was taken to Bon Secours Hospital for treatment of a minor injury and released. Later, police arrested a suspect in the case and were holding him at the station pending charges of common assault and assault on a police officer.

THEFT: Western District -- Someone entered the Calverton Junior High School in the 1100 block of Whitmore Ave. over the weekend and stole a canvas carrying pouch belonging to an employee of the school. The pouch contained a payroll check and more than $100 in cash.

ASSAULT: Western District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Myrtle Ave. was in an alley behind the 1000 block of Myrtle Ave. early yesterday morning when he was struck by a car operated by a man he knows. The injured man, Benjamin Means, was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where he was treated for a broken right ankle and released. Police arrested a suspect and were holding him at the station pending assault charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police were seeking two men following an armed robbery yesterday afternoon in the 1000 block of N. Bentalou St. The victim, a resident of the 2300 block of Winchester St., was walking down the street about 4 p.m. when he was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who ordered him to hand over his money. The gunman and his accomplice escaped with nearly $150.

THEFT: Central District -- A woman was sitting on the front steps of a building in the 2200 block of St. Paul St. about 8 p.m. yesterday when a man walked by and stole property valued at nearly $150 that she placed on the steps next to her. The woman lived nearby.

THEFT: Central District -- Two gold wedding bands and three $1 bills were stolen from the room of a patient at Mercy Medical Center in the 300 block of St. Paul St. The property was valued at $703 and was stolen shortly before 7 p.m. yesterday.

THEFT: Central District -- Property valued at more than $400 was stolen yesterday after someone broke into a 1985 Volvo while the vehicle was parked in the first block of E. Franklin St. The owner of the car, an out-of-town resident, said the car was entered through an unlocked door.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Someone broke into Bex's convenience store in the 3200 block of Chelsea Terrace over the weekend and ransacked the store. Employees were unable to tell police what, if any, property was taken. Entry was gained by using a pry tool to open a window.

DOG THEFT: Northwestern District -- A 40-pound female pit bulldog was stolen yesterday from the back yard of a house in the 3200 block of Woodland Ave. The 3-year-old brown and white dog, with the number 213 branded on one side, was stolen yesterday afternoon.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A woman was robbed by two men, one with a gun, of more than $100 yesterday while walking in the 3000 block of Spaulding Ave. in Pimlico. The victim, a 41-year-old resident of the 5000 block of Queensberry Ave., was walking shortly after 1 a.m. when she was stopped by two men who asked her for a cigarette. Before the woman could respond, one of the men pulled her into an alley and demanded her money.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- An 18-year-old resident of the 5900 block of Western Run Drive was robbed near her home of $10 early yesterday by two men, one with a handgun.

THEFT: Northern District -- Several pieces of lawn furniture valued at $300 were stolen from the back yard of a home in the 1000 block of Upnor Road over the weekend.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- An air conditioner valued at $500 was stolen from an outdoor storage shed in the 3600 block of Ash St. over the weekend.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Stereo equipment valued at $1,000 was stolen from a house in the 100 block of Deepdene Road over the weekend after someone got in through an unlocked front door.

THEFT: Northern District -- A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man suspected of entering a home in the 3000 block of Wylie Ave. yesterday and stealing a tape deck and TV valued at $800.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the first block of E. 25th St. was robbed of his watch, valued at more than $100, late last night while walking in the 700 block of Exeter Hall Ave.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- An answering machine, cash, coins, and a radio valued at nearly $200 were stolen from a home in the 300 block of E. 33rd St. over the weekend after someone pried a door open.
