Two area players sign Spirit contracts

The Baltimore Spirit yesterday signed two native Baltimoreans, goalkeeper Brian Hartlove and defender Steve Nichols, to expand its roster to five players for the team's 1992-93 inaugural season in the National Professional Soccer League.

Hartlove, 27, attended Perry Hall High School and later attended Essex Community College and West Virginia University. He was the goalkeeper for the Zia Pina outdoor soccer club, winner of the Baltimore Summer Soccer League title.

Nichols, 24, is a 1990 graduate of Loyola College and played on the Casa Mia team.
