South River Seahawks

August 30, 1992

Head coach: Dave Summey (fourth season).

Assistant coaches: Jim Henne, Chuck Golch, Mitch Suplee, Denny Dewitt and Ken Brazerol.

1991 record: 9-2, lost in 3A state quarterfinals to Seneca Valley.

Returnees: Seniors Carl Baranek (OT-DT), Jimmy Barnard (OT-DT), Greg Avery (QB-DB), Jason Fullmer (SE-DB), Jaron Hairston (RB-LB), Craig Hopkins (RB-DB) and Richard Bembe (QB-DB).

Newcomers: Seniors Richie Singleton (OG-DE) and Joe Renoe (E-RB); juniors Chris Haines (G-DT), John Dintino (RB-DB), Mike Sheehan (C-LB), William McAdams (C-DE), Matt Johnson (OT-DT), Pat Ledson (OT-DT), Will Sadler (TE-DE), Chris Buser ,, (OT-DT), Lindsey Hayes (RB-DB) and Jason Pagliaro (RB-DB); sophomores Andy Tydings (RB-DL), Russell Toungue (SE-DB), Mitch Selby (G-DT), Andy Meyers (G-LB), Tom Terry (RB-DB) and Adrian Newman (OL-DL).

Coach's outlook: "It's very early to tell where we are right now with just six returning seniors back from last year. We're going to have to grow up fast. We're young, inexperienced, and untested, but we have an interesting group mix of young players who have a very good work ethic."

Anne Arundel County Sun outlook: South River may be young, but word has it that Summey may be downplaying his team just a little bit, and the young talent that he has should be enough to at least assure another winning season.
