Voter registration deadline alert
The Anne Arundel County Board of Supervisors of Elections has announced several deadlines for county voters who wish to vote in the general election Nov. 3.
The last day to register to vote and the last day for an elderly or physically challenged person to request a transfer to a polling place free of barriers to wheelchairs is at 9 p.m. Oct. 5.
Voter registration forms are available at the election office, 101 N. Crain Highway, Room 305, Glen Burnie, all Anne Arundel County Libraries, most banks and savings and loans, and U.S. post offices.
Applications for a transfer are available by calling the election office.
Oct. 27 is the last day for an absentee ballot application to be received in the election office. Requests for absentee ballots must be made in person.
Disabled citizens benefit from law
The county has established the Anne Arundel County Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Office in Room 422 at the Arundel Center, Calvert Street, Annapolis.
The office, headed up by Larry Telford, a former Department of Utilities Customer Relations Specialist, is charged with implementing ADA regulations, which went into effect in July.
The regulations prohibit discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, public accommodations, telecommunications, and state and local government services.
