Centennial Eagles 1992 Howard County footaball at a glance

August 30, 1992

Coach: Ed Holshue, third year

1991 record: 5-5

Returnees: Seniors Mike Catania (FB), Jim Bebruyn (FB), Jeremy Odelius (RB/CB), Joe McLaine (T), Robert Booth (T/DT), Bill Chedester (FL/DB), Nathan Hunt (WR), Simon Zimmer (WR), Doug Golden (TE).

Newcomers to watch: Juniors Jeff Goldberg (LB/RB), Eric Frank (C/DL), Walter Song (NG/G), Chong Choe (LB); Sophomores Robbie Hauff (RB/DE), Chris Cochran (DE), Steve Puckett (G/DL), John O'Connor (T/DT), Kevin O'Connor (LB/TE).

Coach's outlook: "We're very young, but I really like where we're going. We've had better off-season weight training than we've ever had, we're better physically than we've ever been, and our youth gives us more depth than we've ever had. The inexperience will create some mistakes and some tentativeness. made a commitment to youth."

Howard County Sun outlook: The Eagles will have trouble replacing All-County players like running back Brian Kujawa (900 yards of offense) and linebacker Charlie Stewart. However, if the sophomore class lives up to Holshue's lofty expectations, the Eagles should make serious progress against a soft, early season schedule and may make some serious noise for several years to come.
