Fallston Cougars 1992 High school football preview

August 30, 1992

Head coach: Dave Cesky (16th season).

Assistant coaches: Joe Grosgowski, Joe Kropkowski, Chris Cook, Brooks Poulsen, Andy Andrews and Mike Ballard.

1991 record: 2-8.

Returnees: Seniors Brad Baker (WR-S), Mike Carter (C-DT), Pat Grant (WR-S), Kris Kapinos (TE-S), Bo Kluge (RB-LB), Keith Lee (OT-DT), Tom Pappas (FB-DE), Craig Rhoten (G-LB), J.C. Waller (T-DE) and Mike Weaver (RB-LB); junior Chris Harrison (G-DT).

Newcomers: Juniors Brad Thomas (QB-LB) and Tom Wirth (QB-LB); sophomore Mike Ballard (RB-DE).

Coach's outlook: "We didn't have a bad ballclub last year. We should have been around .500, but we had a lot of misfortune. The first week, we out-gained our opponent by more than 100 yards and lost. We fumbled eight times against Havre de Grace. We should cut down on those kinds of mistakes."

Harford County Sun outlook: The Cougars should pick a few more wins this season with 14 returning seniors. They should be stronger both ways. The defense will have a new 4-4 look to take advantage of new speed and quickness. Cesky doesn't have as much size on the line as some other teams and he doesn't have any bona fide stars in the backfield, but the Cougars have a good balance of talent.
