Bel Air Bobcats 1992 High school football preview

August 30, 1992

Head coach: Gene Blizzard (second season).

Assistant coaches: Don Vail, Joe Alex.

1991 record: 0-10.

Returnees: Seniors Keir Thompson (OB-DB), Dan Durst (FB-LB), Brenton Clark (E-DE), Andy Glenn (OT-DT), Andy Clark (OT-DT), Don Krtanjek (QB-DB), Roy Sampson (OB-DB), Brandon Barrett (G-LB), Matt Dupree (OT-DT), Chris Abel (Line) and Doug Morin (Kicker).

Newcomers: Juniors Terry Vail (OB) and Dick Barwick (OB).

Coach's outlook: "We don't have a whole lot of experience on this team, so we're just trying to improve. We hope to be a little more competitive than last year, but to compare with some of the other teams in the county, we don't have much size or speed."

Harford County Sun outlook: The Bobcats should get a boost from the influx of players from last year's county champion junior varsity that went 10-0. With veteran tackles Glenn (6-8, 270) and Dupree (6-7, 240), the Bobcats have a couple of solid anchors. Thompson, one of the top five running backs in the county last year, leads a solid crew of backs, but much of the rest of the squad is untested on the varsity level. The Bobcats could pick up that elusive win, but it will be difficult to reach the middle of the pack.
