Power Boat Grand Prix

Looking for some fun near the water? The 1992 Ocean City U.S. Offshore Power Boat Grand Prix begins at noon next Sunday just off 28th Street in front of the Dunes Manor Hotel, where the race also ends.

More than 70 of the nation's fastest offshore power boats will compete on a 60- to 120-mile course in laps along the shore for trophies and a share of the $60,000 purse.

Visitors can see boats checking in Thursday at the Ocean CitConvention Center, 40th Street and the bay. Boat inspections are Friday and Saturday. For more information, call (410) 289-2800.

Exhibit of prints

For a more relaxing diversion, visit an exhibit titled "The Maryland Printmakers' Invitational" at the Ocean City Art League Gallery, 516 94th St. Opening tomorrow, the juried exhibit

Baseball card spectacular

Today is the last day to catch the Seashore Spectacular VI Baseball Card Convention at the Ocean City Convention Center, 40th Street and the bay. Sponsored by Baseball Cards Unlimited, the event features a wide selection of baseball cards, sports memorabilia and collectibles. Admission is $3. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. White Marlin Open

The finale of the annual White Marlin Open tournament season begins Friday. Participants will fish for marlin, tuna, dolphin, wahoo and other species.

Registration is Thursday. Tournament fishing is two of three days, Friday through next Sunday. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Entry fee is $600. The event is sponsored by the Ocean City Marlin Club. For more information, call (410) 289-6363.
