Greenbelt man charged with rape
A 26-year-old Greenbelt man has been charged with raping a 17-year-old girl he met at a party in Columbia, Howard County police said.
James A. Page Jr. of the 9000 block of Spring Hill Lake in Greenbelt, has been charged with first-degree rape, assault and battery and sex offenses, police said.
He's being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
According to police, the teen-ager met Mr. Page at a party in Columbia early last Wednesday morning and then left with him. Mr. Page allegedly told her he'd drive her home, but instead drove to a dirt area near Route 29 and Owen Brown Road.
The man made sexual advances at the teen-ager, but she became frightened and ran, police said.
After catching her and forcing her back into his car, Mr. Page drove to a business park nearby on Patuxent Woods Drive, where he allegedly raped her, police said.
Mr. Page threatened to kill the girl if she didn't cooperate, police said.
The suspect later fell asleep, and the partially clad teen-ager ran to a friend's house and called police at about 5 a.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Mr. Page lying naked on the front seat of the car and arrested him, police said.

Thibido is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center, and Bruce is being held in lieu of $2,500 bond, police said.
The 16-year-old, whose name wasn't released because of his age, was released into his parents' custody, police said.
Another man, Ronald L. Stansbury Jr., 18, of the 1900 block of Arwell Court in Severn was charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon, a bayonet, police said. He's being held in lieu of $1,000 bond.
Shortly before midnight Sunday, police responded to the convenience store after receiving a report of a man carrying a shotgun.
When police arrived at the store, at 10750 Hickory Ridge Road, they observed a man running around the side of the store with a shotgun, police said.
The man tried to flee the parking lot in a car but was stopped, police said. Inside the car, police found a loaded assault rifle and a baseball bat. A shotgun was recovered from bushes behind the store, police said. Police said it was unclear what the men were doing with the guns or why they were at the store.
Police said Thibido was the driver and that Bruce and the 16-year-old were passengers.
Stansbury, who was not in the car, was arrested after he approached the officers and they found the bayonet, police said.

Boy, 13, on bike and police car collide
A 13-year-old Ellicott City boy was hospitalized Tuesday after slamming into a mobile police cruiser on a road near West Friendship, Howard County police said.
Gregory Weber, who will be a freshman at Glenelg High School next month, was being treated at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, where he was flown by state police helicopter, police said. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available from hospital officials.
The accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. yesterday when Gregory, of the 13000 block of Triadelphia Road, pedaled his 10-speed bicycle from a private driveway and into the police car, which was eastbound in the 3500 block of Rosemary Lane.
Patrolman Robert Jones, a 21-year-veteran, was on routine patrol and not responding to a call. He was uninjured.
Police said it appeared Gregory was at fault and he was not wearing a helmet. The police cruiser wasn't speeding.
