August 23, 1992

County police have released a composite sketch of a man they believe kidnapped and raped a 49-year-old woman Tuesday morning.

Detectives said the woman came out of her Annapolis apartment, on South Cherry Grove Road near West Street, and saw a man standing near her car.

After the man began talking to her, she gave him a ride to another apartment complex. Police said the man then forced her drive to Research Drive, near Bestgate Road, where he raped her.

After driving the woman to the intersection of Calvert and Clay streets, the man ran away. The victim drove herself to the hospital.

The suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He had a medium build, short-cropped black hair and was last seen wearing a baseball cap with a "Rams" insignia on the front.

Anyone with information about the crime or the suspect is urged to call the county police Criminal Investigation Division at 222-3468 or dial 911. Detective Sylvia Perry is in charge of the case.
