Congressional aide applications accepted

District 1 Congressman Wayne T. Gilchrest is currently accepting applications for internships in his Washington office and in the four district offices in Salisbury, Chestertown, Aberdeen and Waldorf.

College students and graduates from the First District and area colleges will be considered for the Republican's Washington, D.C. positions, while applicants in high school should apply for district office positions.

Candidates with an interest in journalism, legislation, political science or public affairs are preferred for the Washington, D.C. positions. Send applications to Congressman Wayne T.

Mayor's office seeking donations

The Mayor's Office of Community Services and Substance Abuse is seeking donations to help defray the cost of T-shirts touting the City's summer anti-drug activities.

The shirts will be given to nearly 400 youths in the community to help spread a strong, positive message. Printed on the shirts is an outline of the schedule of events ranging from the Multicultural Drug-Free Summer Festival to the Mayor's Trophy Softball Game scheduled for Aug. 22.

County ADA office is established

County Executive Robert R. Neall has established an Anne Arundel County Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Office.

Larry Telford, a former Department of Utilities customer relations specialist has been appointed as the ADA Coordinator.

The office is charged with implementing the ADA regulations that became effective through federal legislation on July 26 of this year.

Located in Room 422 at the Arundel Center in Annapolis, the ADA office will also work to train county managers and supervisors to comply with the regulations.
