Landscape conference

The Irvine Natural Science Center is sponsoring a conference Thursday for the amateur and professional gardener, landscape designer, forester, horticulturist, nurseryman and anyone else who also is concerned about the environment.

"The Role of Native Plants in the Landscape" will cover such topics as: Why use native plants? Which natives should be used? Where can native plants be obtained? How do we integrate natives with traditional design?

The 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. seminar will be held at Irvine, which is on the campus of St. Timothy's School, 8400 Greenspring Ave., Stevenson. The cost is $50 for members of Irvine and $60 for non-members and includes a box lunch. For information, call (410) 484-2413.
