Man dies in motorcycle wreck

The passenger on a motorcycle was killed and the operator injured last night when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck on Old York Road near the ramp onto southbound Interstate 83 in Parkton.

Pronounced dead at the scene was Kevin Heath Badders, 24, of the 100 block of Reehling Road in New Freedom, Pa.

Police said Barry E. Hart, 46, of the 20600 block of Kirkwood Shop Road in White Hall, was driving a 1985 Toyota pickup westbound on Old York Road and was turning left to enter the I-83 exit ramp at 8:25 p.m. when he collided with a 1990 eastbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by William Andrew Garnett, 44, of Deer Road in Fawn Grove, Pa.

Mr. Garnett and Mr. Badders were thrown off the motorcycle.

Mr. Badders died at the scene. Mr. Garnett was in fair and stable condition today at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Mr. Hart, who was not injured, was charged with failure to grant the right of way, police said.

It was not known if either motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, police said.
