A 36-year-old West Baltimore man was arrested in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old boy in the 2300 block of W. Baltimore St., police said.
Charged with first-degree murder and using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony is Robert Jerome Cole of the 2300 block of W. Baltimore St.
Police said the victim, Shyhid Aikeem Saunders of the 2200 block of W. Fayette St., was fighting with a man in front of a house in the 2300 block of W. Baltimore St. about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday.
And the man went into his house and came back with a large knife, police said.
"Apparently, it was an argument over drugs," said Agent Doug Price, a spokesman for city police.
Witnesses told police the man stabbed the youth in the upper left back and then followed him into the street and stabbed him a second time in the chest.
The youth staggered to the 2200 block of Booth St. and collapsed.
The man fled.
Police said Shyhid died at the University of Maryland Medical Center emergency room at 9:10 p.m.
As police canvassed the area for a suspect known as "Snooky," a resident of the 2200 block of E. Madison St. called police and told them the suspect was in her house.
The woman is the suspect's sister, police said.
Police said the suspect was arrested at the house by uniformed Eastern District officers and Sgt. Louis Davis and Donald Warden, both of the homicide squad.
Mr. Cole was being held at Eastern District lockup held pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner, police said.
Police have recovered the knife.
