A 26-year-old Ellicott City man died shortly after midnight Thursday from injuries received a week ago in a car accident.

Thomas Richard Commarota, of the 3200 block of Wheaton Way, died at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

He was driving a 1990 Ford Ranger on Rogers Avenue near High Ridge Road on Aug. 8 when he hit a utility pole.

In another accident, a 19-year-old Glenwood woman was injured Thursday night when the car she was driving hit a tree.

Amy Marie Frederick of the 14000 block of Mustang Path was driving on Homewood Road near Farside Road when her car left the roadway and struck a tree.

Investigations are continuing in both accidents.
