Baltimore Co. to register recipients for surplus food Effort involves 10 sign-up sites

August 15, 1992

Baltimore County will register recipients of federal surplus food from Tuesday through Aug. 28 at 10 county locations.

Because current surplus-food identification cards expired June 30, all currently eligible recipients must re-register.

New applicants may apply for an ID card during this period.

Eligibility requirements include:

* Proof of income eligibility -- such as a Project Independence ID card, Department of Social Services photo ID card, food stamp ID card, Social Security awards or benefits statement or Maryland Energy Assistance Program benefit check stub or benefit notice.

Unemployment benefit check stubs or statements are not acceptable.

* Proof of household size -- such as Social Security cards for each family member, income tax return showing dependents or a medical assistance program card for each family member.

* Proof of current ZIP code -- such as driver's license, vehicle registration, utility bill, recently postmarked envelope or a recent lease or rental agreement.

Recipients must be Baltimore County residents and go to the location that services their postal ZIP code. Only one card may be issued for each household.
