L&N Seafood

L&N Seafood, 401 York Road, Towson, (410) 825-6081. L&N Seafood is a chain restaurant that doesn't act like one. Although its food is plentiful, fresh and flavorful, it's really the service that sets it apart. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful throughout the meal. Never once did her interest in us -- or her other tables -- seem to wane. L&N is a casual restaurant with a varied clientele and a handsome decor. It specializes in fresh seafood, grilled over mesquite. The selection changes daily, but usually includes salmon, grouper, catfish, trout and swordfish. There is also a variety of shellfish plus two chicken and two beef entrees. $$ -- moderate. (Last visited 7/92.)

Pizzaria Uno, Towson Commons, 1 W. Pennsylvania Ave., (410) 825-8667. Pizza is the thing to order at Pizzaria Uno -- either the delicious, thick-crusted version with lots of filling or the thin-crusted variety if you're more of a traditionalist. You'll appreciate the fact that the staff tries hard to get you in and out in time for one of the eight movies in Towson Commons, but this isn't a bad place to eat even if you aren't going to the movies. But stick with the pizza. $ -- inexpensive. (Last reviewed 8/92.)

ELIZABETH LARGE Bombay Peacock Grill, 10005 Old Columbia Road, Columbia, (410) 381-7111. The area's newest upscale Indian restaurant is a branch of the successful Bombay Grill in downtown Baltimore. Like its sister, the Bombay Peacock has an imaginative menu and the kitchen emphasizes flavors and aromas over incendiary seasoning. That's not to say you can't get it hot here; but unless you request it, the fire won't overwhelm every other taste. $$ -- moderate. (Last reviewed 8/92.)
