NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Scott Bethea's RBI single in the 13th inning lifted the New Britain Red Sox past the Hagerstown Suns, 3-2, last night in Double-A Eastern League action.

Bethea's single to center scored Bruck Chick, who had walked and advanced to second on a balk, to help the Red Sox take two of three games from the Suns.

Winning pitcher Kevin Uhrhan (2-4) went six innings, giving up five hits and one run and striking out two. Loser Brian Wood (4-3) pitched two innings, giving up three hits, one run and one walk. He struck out four.

Chris Hoiles, on a rehabilitation assignment from the Orioles, singled, struck out twice and caught five innings in his first game since June 21, when he suffered a fractured wrist in a game against the New York Yankees.
