Rear Adm. Richard Blackburn Black, an explorer who accompanied Adm. Richard E. Byrd on his early expeditions to Antarctica, has died at the age of 90. Admiral Black, who died Tuesday at a Bethesda nursing home, made five trips to the continent, starting in 1933 with Byrd's second expedition.
