Suplee a finalist for South River post

August 13, 1992

Former All-County lineman Mitch Suplee is among the four finalists for the vacant assistant football coaching position at South River High, said school Athletic Director Jim Haluck.

Suplee, who as a senior at South River in 1986 was the first lineman named Anne Arundel County Sun Player of the Year, played four years at center for the University of Maryland.

He was a captain last season and made second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference, but was not drafted by a National Football League club.

Suplee returned to the county this week after completing his season with the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League.

Haluck said he hoped a decision would be made by Friday.
