Andre Martin, a Maryland football recruit from Wilde Lake High, failed to meet NCAA Proposition 48 requirements and will not enroll with the freshman class this year.
Terps recruiting coordinator Kyle Lingerfelt said Martin will go instead to a prep school and, if his Scholastic Aptitude Test score improves sufficiently, attend Maryland next year. The NCAA requires a minimum score of 700 on the SAT.
Martin is projected as a defensive back. Last fall, he rushed for 920 yards, had five interceptions and 64 tackles and returned punts and kickoffs to help Wilde Lake go 13-0 and capture its second straight Class 1A state championship.
