The Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors' Association plans to move its headquarters from Constellation Place at Pratt and Light streets (also known as the C&P Building), to the 12th floor of the USF&G tower at 100 Light St. by Nov. 1.
Executive Director Wayne Chappell said the organization's 10-year lease at Constellation Place was due to expire in April. He said his office sought bids from other landlords in an effort to take advantage of the depressed downtown real estate market and wound up saving $70,000 a year on rent while gaining more space.
He said the 12th-floor office will give the agency a marketing advantage over its current second-floor location because it will give meeting planners a bird's-eye view of the Convention Center, the downtown hotels and attractions, and the proposed site for the Convention Center expansion. It will also provides room for the office to expand. The Constellation Place site does not have adjacent expansion space available, he said.
