July 28, 1992

Four people died in car accidents yesterday and Sunday:

Baltimore County

County police said a Kingsville accident occurred at 5:10 p.m. when the driver, 29, who was not identified until his relatives could be notified, tried to change lanes in the 12600 block of Belair Road.

The car swerved off the right side of the road and struck a telephone pole. The driver was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Fallston General Hospital.

Police said high speed was a contributing factor to the accident.

On Sunday, Edward Allen Turner, 52, of New Freedom, Pa., was killed when his car crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 83 in Parkton and rolled down an embankment. Mr. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy Baltimore County medical examiner.

Police said Mr. Turner was driving south on I-83, south of York Road in the Parkton area, at 3:10 p.m. when he apparently lost control of his 1987 Mercury Cougar and crashed into a guardrail.

The car then hit a mile-marker sign before overturning and rolling down the embankment. He was thrown from the vehicle, police said.

Talbot County

Two people died in a one-car accident in St. Michaels when the driver, John Howell, 35, of Baltimore lost control of his vehicle on Route 33.

The car went off the right side of the roadway and overturned several times, state police said.

Mr. Howell and a passenger, Donna Kayiales, 36, of Tilghman Island, were ejected, police said. They were both pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital at Easton.
