Man dies following heart attack, crash

A 61-year-old Prince George's County man died Thursday after his truck ran off the road and hit a tree in Mayo.

According to police, Robert Lee Edmonds, of the 4000 block of Cooper Lane in Landover Hills, was driving his pickup truck east on Route 214 at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday when he had a heart attack and lost control of the truck. The truck ran off the road, down a ravine and crashed into a tree, police said.

Mr. Edmonds was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead the following day.

Women charged after traffic fight

Two women were charged with disorderly conduct after they parked their cars at a South County intersection and began beating each other, police said.

Officers said the dispute began at 7 a.m. Friday when one of the women passed the other on Route 2 in a no-passing zone and the first woman made an obscene gesture to the other.

When the pair stopped at a traffic light at routes 2 and 214, one of the women got out of her car, walked over to the other and began arguing with the driver.

When the light turned green, the woman got back in her car and both continued driving on Route 2. When the pair got to the next red light, at routes 2 and 253, both women got out of their cars and began punching each other, police said.

Regina Dianna Hoffman, 48, of the unit block of Jewell Road in Dunkirk, and Tyneeka Wanda Rice, 18, of the unit block of Sunny Hills Drive in Sunderland, were taken to Southern District station to be charged.

Police arrest 5 on drug charges

County police arrested five people and confiscated cocaine, marijuana and PCP after a drug operation in Severn Thursday night.

Undercover officers started the operation at 11 p.m. by purchasing drugs in the parking lot of Ridgeview Shopping Center on Route 175, police said.

During those arrests, police confiscated 16.3 grams of marijuana and liquid PCP. Police then raided an apartment in the 600 block of Hallmark Drive, confiscating 1.8 grams of cocaine and marijuana residue.

While questioning people in the apartment, officers learned a man was on his way over to deliver more cocaine. When the man arrived, police confiscated one gram of cocaine and a .22-caliber handgun.

James Ernest Rackley, 26, of the 7800 block of Woodside Terrace in Glen Burnie, and Nadine Apel, 20, of the 1100 block of Primrose Court in Annapolis, were charged with distribution of marijuana and possession of PCP.

Donald Henry Shana, 29, of the 600 block of Hallmark Drive in Severn, was charged with distribution of crack cocaine and marijuana.

Larry Shields, 19, of the 1800 block of Eagle Court in Severn, was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Michael Antwain Hicks, 18, of the 3000 block of Hopkins Court in Fort Meade, was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Man robs clerk at Loews Annapolis

A man robbed the clerk at the front desk of Loews Annapolis Hotel early Friday, kicking a bellhop who confronted him before escaping with $11, Annapolis police said.

The man walked in the front door at about 4:45 a.m. and asked for change for cigarettes, police said. When the clerk opened the register, the man demanded money.

As he was running out the door, police said, he kicked a bellhop who confronted him.
