July 25, 1992

Anne Arundel County police arrested five adults and three juveniles Thursday night and early yesterday after a controlled purchase by undercover narcotics officers of marijuana and liquid PCP on the Ridgeview Shopping Center parking lot in Hanover.

The arrest of two people at the shopping center shortly before midnight led to a search warrant for an apartment in the 600 block of Hallmark Drive in Glen Burnie, where several other people were arrested and a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana was seized.

Shortly after police "purchased" more than 16 grams of marijuana and PCP from two suspects at the shopping center at Route 175 and Ridge Road, they obtained the search warrant and entered apartment 104 at 640 Hallmark Drive at the Americana Woodside Apartments. After finding more crack cocaine and marijuana residue in the apartment, police arrested the occupant.

Police estimated the marijuana's street value at $150 and the cocaine at nearly $800. Also seized: more than $200 and two cars.

Arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses were James Ernest Rackley, 26, of the 7800 block of Woodside Terrace, Glen Burnie; Nadine Apel, 20, of the 1100 block of Primrose Court, Annapolis; Donald Henry Shana, 19, of the Hallmark Drive address; Larry Shields, 18, of the 1800 block of Eagle Court, Severn; and Michael Antwain Hicks, 18, of the 3000 block of Hopkins Court in Fort Meade.
