Diana has a trump card

July 23, 1992|By Cox News Service

Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe are featured in the August Life. Writer Robert Lacey, in profiling Di, says her trump card is son Prince William, the future king of England. Having him allows her to "defy her husband and even the queen with impunity -- divorce will not remove her royal and public status as William's mother."

Monroe's last interview, with Life associate editor Richard Meryman, is being republished on the 30th anniversary of her death from an overdose of sleeping pills.
