a 1991 data are adjusted for the adoption of a new accounting statement on income taxes. Per-share data from last year also are adjusted to account for the 15 percent stock dividend paid June 22, 1992.

Bell Atlantic Corp.

This Philadelphia-based regional Bell telephone company, parent of Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. of Maryland, earned $298.1 million, or 70 cents a share, for the quarter that ended June 30, down from $324.7 million, or 77 cents a share, in the same period in 1991.

The company's financial performance reflected one-time costs associated with acquiring Metro Mobile CTS Inc., a cellular communications company, in April.

Metro Mobile has been merged with Bell Atlantic's cellular arm, Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems.

As a result of the merger, Bell Atlantic expects its overall cellular business to increase by 30 percent next year. Figures for 1991 have been restated to reflect the merger with Metro Mobile.
