Baltimore City

THEFT: Central District -- Someone stole $2,000 in currency and checks from a vendor during the closing hours of the three-day Artscape '92 yesterday. Police said the thief took a money bag containing $2,000 in cash and checks from the booth when the vendor's attention was diverted at 9:15 p.m. yesterday. The booth was in the 200 block of W. Preston St.

THEFT: Central District -- A resident of the 1100 block of Guilford Ave. reported to police that someone took gas grill from his back yard about 9:50 p.m. yesterday.

STABBING: Central District -- A man was treated at University of Maryland Medical Center and released after being stabbed in the side at 9:20 p.m. yesterday. Police said the victim refused to provide details of the incident to officers except to say he was in the 600 block of Hoffman St. when the attack occurred.

PURSE SNATCH: Central District -- A man asked a woman for a cigarette while she was in the 500 block of Robert St. at 10:50 p.m. yesterday. When she reached into her purse, police said, the man grabbed the purse and fled.

RAPE/ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Two men entered a home on Gough Street through a broken window at 12:30 a.m. yesterday, pointed a handgun at the victims, and sexually assaulted one of them, police said. Two men were arrested at 8:50 p.m. yesterday.

ASSAULT: Eastern District -- A man threw a bottle at another man in the 1100 block of Collington St. at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, police said. The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

BURGLARY: Eastern District -- Someone climbed to the second floor of a home in the 1400 block of E. Madison St. between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. and entered through a sliding door. The burglar took $2,400 worth of cash and jewelry, police said.

ATTEMPTED RAPE: Eastern District -- Four men picked up a girl in the 1400 block of E. Federal St., police said, and carried her into the basement of a nearby house. They attempted to remove her clothes, but fled when she screamed.

THEFT: Eastern District -- Police said a man was arrested for stealing potted plants from the porches of homes in the 1200 block of Bonaparte Ave. yesterday. He was charged with theft in the incident. Police said four of the plants were recovered.

ASSAULT: Eastern District -- A woman was walking in the 900 block of N. Bond St. at 9 a.m. yesterday when she was approached by a man who pointed a handgun at her and threatened her life, she told police. She surrendered $20 to the assailant.

BURGLARY: Eastern District -- Someone broke into a home in the 500 block of E. 23rd St. between 9:15 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. yesterday and took a television set and furnishings worth $150, police said. The manner of entry was unknown.

THEFT: Eastern District -- A man entered the Wendy's restaurant in the 2000 block of Harford Road yesterday and, while the cashier's back was turned, reached into the register and took an undetermined amount of money, police reported. The thief fled.

ROBBERY: Eastern District -- A man was in the 800 block of N. Broadway at 11:35 a.m. yesterday when he was approached by a man carrying a handgun, police said. The robber took $9 and fled.

ROBBERY: Eastern District -- A man was in the 800 block of N. Bond St. about 9:50 p.m. yesterday when a man approached with a handgun and took $68 from him, police said.

CUTTING: Eastern District -- Two men got into an argument in the 1700 block of E. Preston St. at 3:20 a.m. yesterday when one of the men pulled out a pocket knife and cut his adversary on the arm, police said. The victim was treated at a hospital and released.

BURGLARY: Eastern District -- Steer Window & Glass Co. reported that someone entered its building by opening a hole in the wall of its building about 5 p.m. Saturday, police said. The bandit was carrying computer equipment from the facility when he was stopped by an employee and dropped the loot. The man fled, but the property was recovered.

THEFT: Eastern District -- Someone removed $60 from the office at the Greater Mulberry Baptist Church, in the 2400 block of Greenmount Ave., about 2 p.m. yesterday, police said.

BURGLARY: Eastern District -- A radio and microwave oven worth $400 were taken from a home in the 300 block of E. 24th St. between 1:30 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. yesterday after someone entered through the kitchen window, police said.

STABBING: Eastern District -- A man was treated at the Francis Scott Key Medical Center and released last night after he was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors during an argument in the 1600 block of Patterson Park Ave., police said.

BURGLARY: Eastern District -- Someone entered the Johnston Square Elementary School in the 1100 block of Valley St. at 5:40 p.m. by kicking in a window yesterday. The intruder ransacked several rooms. The loss was undetermined. Police said they weren't contacted by the alarm company until an hour after the break-in.
