Agent sues employer

Maryland Cooperative Extension Service agent Sharon Grobaker filed suit yesterday against her employer, saying she was wrongly transferred from Carroll County to Baltimore County.

The lawsuit says the transfer, which took effect July 1, was a breach of Mrs. Grobaker's contract.

She had worked as a home economics agent in Carroll for almost 16 years and was transferred when her full-time position was

eliminated as part of a plan to cut $3.6 million from the extension service budget.

Mrs. Grobaker exhausted the extension service's appeal process before filing the lawsuit.

Extension Service Regional Director Walter Bay said the service has "a fairly generous" grievance policy and that Mrs. Grobaker was treated fairly.

In the suit, Mrs. Grobaker asks to be reinstated in her Carroll position.
