Christina R. Baker Active in community

A memorial service for Christina R. Baker, who was active in organizations in Baltimore, will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. David's Episcopal Church, 4700 Roland Ave.

Mrs. Baker, who was 87, died May 7, 1991, at a nursing home in Athens, Texas.

A former president of the Women's Eastern Shore Society, she was a member of the Stoney Run Garden Club, the Three Arts Club of Homeland and the Maryland Historical Society.

The former Christina Ruark was a native of Westover and a graduate of what is now Salisbury State University. She taught in the late 1920s and early 1930s in the Baltimore City public school system.

Later, she helped her husband in his real estate business, the Frank M. Baker Jr. Organization.

Mr. Baker died in 1972. They were married 42 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hart of Athens; and three grandchildren.
