Here's what to look for if you are traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week.
New highway projects
U.S. 1 North -- Traffic from Miller Road to Sheradale Drive has been switched to the new three-lane roadway while the southbound roadway is reconstructed. There is daily two-lane traffic southbound until noon, when traffic is reversed to two lanes northbound. A concrete barrier prohibits left turns onto and off Miller Road. Miller Road traffic can make all movements at the U.S. 1 and Perry Hall Road intersection.
Interstate 95, from Baltimore Beltway (Interstate 695) to White Marsh Boulevard -- North from Beltway to White Marsh Boulevard, single-lane closures and two-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. South from White Marsh Boulevard to Beltway, single-lane closures and two-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and single-lane closures from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays. Other closures may occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving and construction.
I-695, outer loop -- Ramp to Liberty Road (Route 26) westbound will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for sound wall repairs. Detours will be posted.
I-695, inner loop -- The left lane at Pulaski Highway will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. today for deck repairs.
I-695, inner and outer loops -- Expect delays and single-lane closures from Belair Road to Perring Parkway during bridge construction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. Two lanes may be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction work.
I-695, inner and outer loops -- Through July 15, expect daily lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m to 5 a.m. from Milford Mill Road to Greenspring Avenue for patching and paving.
Route 175, from U.S. 1 to Gateway Drive -- Continuing through the fall, repaving will require single-lane closures during off-peak hours. All lanes will remain open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
U.S. 50/301, from Patuxent River to Severn River -- From 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., expect lane closures in both directions to overlay existing pavements and to place temporary concrete barriers.
Routes 178/450, from Bestgate Road to Taylor Avenue -- Nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, continuing through Nov. 1. for curb and gutter replacement, inlet upgrades, milling and resurfacing.
I-695 at U.S. 40 and Wilkens Avenue -- Ramps will be closed at Wilkens Avenue and U.S. 40 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for milling and paving. Detours will be posted.
York Road (Route 45) -- Expect lane closures from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday between Fairmount and Bellona avenues for paving.
Interstate 70, Hancock -- One lane of westbound I-70 in Hancock is closed until August for repairs to the bridge over Route 655.
Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge (U.S. 301) -- Through September, possible partial lane closures due to bridge painting. Expect delays.
Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (U.S. 40) -- Bridge maintenance work may close one lane in each direction.
Route 450 at the Naval Academy -- Will be relocated during construction of new Severn River bridge. Signs are posted to alert motorists to the short detour. This will be in effect for two years.
Preston Street bridge over Jones Fall Expressway -- Closed between Brentwood and Mount Royal avenues for reconstruction. Bridge to reopen in January 1993.
Bus route changes:
The MTA has scheduled the following bus route changes for this week. Information: 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.
Preston Street between Cathedral and Howard streets will be closed to traffic the evenings of July 14, 23 and 25 because of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Summerfest music festival, temporarily rerouting buses between 5:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.
No. 21 -- Westbound via regular route on Preston to Cathedral, south on Cathedral, west on Chase Street, southwest on Martin Luther King Boulevard, north on Eutaw Street, west on Dolphin Street, then via regular route.
No. 210 -- Southbound via regular route to Preston and Cathedral, south on Cathedral, west on Chase Street, southwest on Martin Luther King Boulevard, south on Howard, then via regular route.
Selected trips have been extended to White Marsh Mall weekdays and Saturdays.
zTC Continuing diversions
A farmers market in Towson every Thursday through October will close Allegheny Avenue between Washington Avenue and Joppa Road, rerouting buses from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
No. 3 (Sheppard Pratt) -- Northbound via regular route to Joppa Road and Virginia Avenue, south on Virginia, west on Pennsylvania Avenue, south on Washington, then via regular route. Southbound via regular route to Washington and Chesapeake avenues, east on Chesapeake, north on Virginia, east on Joppa Road, then via regular eastbound route.
No. 8 (Stella Maris) -- Southbound via regular route to Dulaney Valley and York roads, south on York, west on Pennsylvania, south on Washington, then via regular route. No change northbound.
No. 55 -- Eastbound via regular route to Washington and Chesapeake, east on Chesapeake, north on Virginia, east on Joppa, then via regular route. Westbound via regular route to Joppa and Virginia, south on Virginia, west on Pennsylvania, south on Washington, then via regular route.
No. 23 (Victory Villa) -- Buses are operating on a temporary route because construction has closed Compass Road west of Middle River Road. Westbound buses leave the layover point on Middle River Road at Compass and travel north on Middle River, east on Compass, south on Henderson Road, east on Victoria Road, north on West Hickam Road, west on Compass, south on Middle River, east on Martin Boulevard, then via regular route. No change eastbound.
