1 dead, 1 hurt in prison stabbing

One inmate was stabbed to death and another seriously wounded today when a fight broke out among four prisoners returning from the recreational yard at the Maryland House of Correction in Jessup.

Leonard Sipes, a spokesman for the Division of Corrections, said the wounded inmate was in serious condition at the Maryland Shock-Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The names of the inmates were withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. convictions

Mr. Sipes said the fight broke out about 9:30 a.m. as inmates were returning to their cells.
