An undetermined number of homes and businesses in a five-block area near Putty Hill Avenue and Old Harford Road in Parkville were evacuated shortly before noon today after a contractor punctured a 4-inch natural gas main with heavy machinery.
A Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. spokeswoman said the main was hit on Putty Hill Avenue about 200 feet east of Old Harford Road.
