SHOWS

July 11-12: Fly Fishing Book and Tackle Fair at the state farm show complex in Harrisburg, Pa. Demonstrations, lectures, custom rod builders, tying and casting lessons, new and antique tackle, reels, waders, tying materials, gadgets, free tackle appraisal, etc. Some classes may require advance registration. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (800) 848-1020.

July 24, 25, 26: Buck Fever, The Hunting Show at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship. Featured speaker is scheduled to be Dan Fitzgerald, acknowledged expert of whitetail deer. Also, the Maryland trophy deer contest, bow hunters' contest, seminars and dealer displays. Call (410) 922-5549.

Aug. 1-2: Call of the Wild benefit sportsmen's outdoors show at the Frederick Fairgrounds. More than 75 displays and demonstrations and hourly lectures by experts on conservation, fly-casting, decoy carving, hunting, fishing, rafting, etc. Admission is $5 for adults. Children 16 and under will be admitted free. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House, Hospice and the Frederick County Sheriff's Ranch. Shows open at 9 a.m. each day.

FISHING

Monday: Get Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs, four-day fishing clinic and drug education program at Greenbrier State Park in Boonsboro and at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone. July 14: The Northwest Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association will meet at St. Lawrence Church Hall, 5801 Security Blvd., at 7:30 p.m. Capt. Joe Mann will conduct a safety program and speak on new concepts in boat ownership. Call (410) 825-5710.

July 21: The Essex-Middle River Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association will meet at Commodore Hall on Old Eastern Avenue in Essex at 7:30 p.m. Capt. Joe Mann will speak on new concepts in boat ownership and will present a slide show. Call (410) 825-5710.

July 23: Light Tackle Release Tournament at Ocean City Marlin Club. Call (410) 289-6363 on Mondays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

July 27: The Perry Hall Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association will meet at the American Legion Hall on Silver Lake Drive off Silver Spring Road at 7:30 p.m. Capt. Joe Mann will speak on new concepts in boat ownership. Call (410) 825-5710.

Aug. 1-8: White Marlin Open at Ocean City, Harbour Island Marina. On-site registration Aug. 1-2. Mail-in registration available through Box 737, Ocean City, Md., 21842. Fishing days are Aug. 3-7. BOATING

SHOOTING

Friday-Saturday: Ducks Unlimited Mid-Atlantic Region will hold its annual Chesapeake Classic Sporting Clays Shooting Tournament at the Hopkins Game Farm in Kennedyville. HIKING
