Exchange election

The Columbia Business Exchange recently elected three directors for the 1992-1993 year: Susan Brown of Century 21 -- H.T. Brown Real Estate; Janet E. Filtzer, executive director of the Howard County Bar Association; and Pamela Roberts of the Sandy Spring Bank. Dennis J. Lane of Noel-Lane Commercial was re-elected to a second term.

At the first meeting of the new board, it elected new officers for CBX. James B. Kraft, managing partner of Kraft, Balcerzak and Bartlett, will serve as president; Dennis Lane was chosen as vice president.

Susan Brown will serve as secretary and Robert J. Cardoni of Cardoni and Co. was elected to a second term as treasurer.

Meachum joins firm

Thomas M. Meachum, formerly of Guida and Eagan of Columbia, has joined the law offices of Fred Howard Silverstein in Ellicott City.

Mr. Meachum, who lives in Ellicott City, specializes in the areas of zoning, government and administrative law along with real property and business law.

FIRN officials take course

Pat Hatch, executive director of the Foreign-Born Information and Referral Network (FIRN) and Barrie Klaits, FIRN's assistant director, have completed a seven-day course in immigration law. The course was offered by the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law in conjunction with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center's National Paralegal Training Program.

Marquette lands contract

Stephanie Marquette, an independent interior custom decorator with TransDesign of Columbia, was awarded a contract for decorating the Helschien Health Center in the Hickory Ridge Village Center.

Ms. Marquette, an Ellicott City resident, recently completed her

first year with TransDesign, a manufacturing and marketer of custom home and office furnishings.

Montgomery in sales

Chesapeake Health Plan announced that Leigh S. Montgomery has joined the company's new business sales division.

Ms. Montgomery, a resident of Howard County for 23 years, will be responsible for group insurance sales in Howard County.
