Navy Officer Gets Medal

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Luis A. Villamonte, a 1975 graduate of John Carroll School recently received the Good Conduct Medal.

The medal recognizes the service member's honest and faithful service during a four-year period.

To earn it, Petty Officer Villamonte achieved and maintained a satisfactory level of performance and an unblemished conduct record for the entire period.

He is currently assigned with Patrol Squadron-30, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla. He joined the Navy in February 1978.

Buonaugurio to Quantico

Marine Lance Cpl. Mark C. Buonaugurio, son of Nicholas and Elvira Buonaugurio of Aberdeen, recently reported for duty with the Marine Helicopter Squadron-1, Marine Corps Air Facility, Quantico, Va.

The 1991 graduate of Aberdeen High School joined the Marine Corps in September 1991.

Seaman Finishes Course

Navy Hospitalman Recruit Robert S. Smeltzer, son of Stephen R. and Susan L. Smeltzer of Bel Air, recently graduated from the Navy's Hospital Corps School.

During the course at the Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego students receive instruction on basic medical procedures used by hospital corpsmen who assist Navy doctors and nurses.

Course studies include an introduction to all phases of military health service, X-ray technology, laboratory analysis, general practice and surgery. The 1991 Harford Technical High School grad joined the Navy in last October.
