ANNAPOLIS — Belt to USS Hayler
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Marcus B. Belt, who joined the Navy earlier this year, has reported to the destroyer USS Hayler in Norfolk, Va.
Graduates from Annapolis
The following Annapolis residents have graduated from the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, R.I., and will go on to either the U.S. Naval Academy or the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Navy Seaman Apprentice James A. Scott, a 1991 graduate of the Severn School.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Richard A. Carter, 1989 graduate of Annapolis Senior High School. He joined the Navy Reserves in August of 1991.
Marine Sgt. Anthony Baggs, who joined the Marine Corps in 1989.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Irving B. Bollard, a 1990 graduate of Broadneck High School. He joined the Navy in August 1990.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Manuel G. Borges was recently selected as Senior Sailor of the Year at Naval Station Annapolis. He joined the Navy in 1978.
Marine Sgt. Kenneth E. Kampen, a 1984 graduate of Arundel Senior High School, has deployed for six months to the Western Pacific with his unit, Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367, based at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Sean M. Scannell recently graduated from the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center at Cape May, N.J.
A 1991 graduate of South River High School in Edgewater, he joined the Coast Guard earlier this year.
James J. Reid Jr. has been commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the Air Force ROTC program, and earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University, Durham, N.C.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Thomas O. Meyers has completed basic training at the Recruit Training Command in San Diego, Calif.
Osborne completes basic
Navy Seaman Recruit David P. Osborne, 1991 graduate of Meade Senior High School, has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Fla.
Hartman completes BMTS
Airman 1st Class Robert H. Hartman III has graduated from Air Force basic military training school at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Seaman Trout graduates
Navy Seaman Apprentice Andrew J. Trout is a recent graduate of the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
He is a 1991 graduate of Arundel Senior High School, and joined the Navy that same year.
West Point lieutenant
Jeffrey S. Gloede has graduated from the military academy in West Point, N.Y. and has been commissioned a Second Lieutenant. He will be assigned to the Aviation Branch at Fort Rucker, Georgia.
Lt. Gloede graduated from Glen Burnie Senior High School in 1988.
Seaman Nollis graduates
Navy Seaman Apprentice Andrew N. Nollis has graduated from the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
He graduated from the Severn School in 1990, and joined the Navy last year.
Ioyanna completes training
Marine Pfc. Marc D. Ioyanna has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
He is a 1989 graduate of Old Mill Senior High School.
Navy Ensign Byung H. Sohn was recently commissioned upon '' graduation from the Naval ROTC program at Carnegie Mellon University.
He is a 1998 graduate of Glen Burnie High School.
Marine Pfc. Chad E. Smith recently graduated from the Marine Aviation Operations Specialist Course.
He graduated from North County High School, and joined the Marine Corps in 1991.
Staff Sgt. Robert E. Baker Jr., a 1980 graduate of Andover Senior High School, has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal for the third time.
He is a personnel information system management specialist, and earned an associate degree in 1988 from the City Colleges of Chicago.
Academy graduate Leidig
Tech. Sgt. Paul F. Leidig has graduated from an Air Force major command non-commissioned officer academy, having received advanced military leadership and management training.
Howell completes basic
Navy Seaman Recruit Eric S. Howell has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
The 1991 graduate of North County Senior High School joined the Navy in March.
Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph A. Wright was recently promoted to his present rank while serving with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune.
He is a 1990 graduate of Glen Burnie High School.

Marine 2nd Lt. Beau M. Lawrence recently reported for duty with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He is a 1987 graduate of Archbishop Spaulding High School and a 1991 graduate of the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Lawrence joined the Marine Corps in 1988.
