Jane Bates, Towson State University's coordinator of art education, has been awarded the National Art Education Association Award for outstanding NAEA members who have exhibited exemplary contributions, service and achievement.

Daniel J. Jenkins of Fallston, a junior civil engineering major at Clemson University, received a $1,500 scholarship from the Associated General Contractors of America. He was one of 85 students nationwide selected from more than 1,100 applicants.

University of Baltimore corporate communication major Kevin Scott of Perryville won a $500 scholarship from the International Television Association.

Mary W. Hall was recently honored at a YWCA of Anne Arundel County Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) banquet for her contributions as assistant vice president of First National Bank of Maryland, Marley Station. TWIN is a nationally recognized honor for women, sponsored by YWCAs across the country.

A coalition of more than 50 AIDS service providers in the Baltimore area presented 32-year-old Joseph B. Holliday with the first annual Joseph B. Holliday Award for Outstanding Service in the Fight Against AIDS.

Two Baltimore college students were selected, along with three others from across the nation, to receive Howard R. Swearer Humanitarian Awards. Cindy Hooper of Morgan State University and Kerry Ann O'Meara of Loyola College were awarded a $1,500 stipend each to support their continued work in public service by the Campus Compact: The Project for Public and Community Service, sponsored by the Aetna Foundation.
