As part of the summer reading program, noted author Priscilla Cummings will talk about how she came to write her book, "Chadwick the Crab," at 2 and 3 p.m. July 9 at the Severna Park branch library.
The free event is open to children in preschool through the sixth grade. Copies of the book will be available to purchase.
The reading program runs through July 24.
Quiet Waters Park will offer rowboat and pedal boat rentals on Harness Creek from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The boats are available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
Rowboat rentals are $5.50 per hour; pedal boats are $6.60 per hour.
